This photo was one of 35 to 40 shots to get it just right. The age of the DSLR has made it more enjoyable and less expensive to get that one in a million shot (or at least one in 35 to 40), and with instant satisfaction of looking at the images right on the back of the camera.
This photo was taken in North Carolina's Outer Banks, OBX. It was just south of the Sunset Grill restaurant.

The Assateague Lighthouse is 142-foot-tall (43 m) it is located on the on Assateague Island at the southern end off the coast of Virginia’s Eastern Shore. It is located within the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge and can be accessed by road.
We had been driving getting in lighthouse photos all day and arrived just as dusk was settling in and the light was just coming on.

This off angle shot highlighted the depth of sky on the beach on this particular day. This day the sky seemed to steal away the glory of the beach.

PRINT TITLE: BODIE ISLAND LIGHTHOUSE
Bodie Island Lighthouse is not the first one on the island it is the third one that has stood in this area of the Outer Banks of North Carolina it was built in 1872. This latest light stands at a height of 156 feet (48 m) tall.
Lighthouses in general make great subjects for photography; natural lighting plays an important part of separating a general looking snapshot to a photo that stands out. The day this was photo was shot it was stormy but the clouds behind me broke and allowed for the sun to break through and brighten up the front of the lighthouse while the background sky was still stormy, making for an above average shot. Sometimes sticking around and waiting for the weather to shift some makes the difference.

The seemingly boring subject, can sometimes be the most interesting candidate for a photo, especially with the right lighting.

This matching pair seemed too good to be true. It was shot with a Minolta 35mm then scanned and had a watercolor filter added in Photoshop.

This stunning sunset appeared on an average day in an average place on a cold winter day. It was a work day and I saw it as I openned the back door to go home. So always have your camera ready, you don't have to be on vacation in the tropics to get that one of a kind sunset.

Turkey Point Light is a historic lighthouse on the Chesapeake Bay on the east coast of the United States. This photograph was in color originally and a full length shot of the lighthouse. It did not create enough interest in that format, so the photo was taken into Photoshop, cropped and changed to a black and white. Never dismiss a shot that is not standing out as a winner. Changing things up may just make it one.
This was then taken into Photoshop again and a charcoal like filter was applied for a hand drawn look.

This sunset over a marsh outside of Cape May New Jersey was one that stopped us in our tracks. Once again the art in nature is captured in time. Now capture it on canvas and bring this art in nature to your home or office.

I captured this seagull in-flight over the sand and the receding water. In the photo you have the actual seagull, it's shadow, as well as it's reflection. It reminded me of the past present and future, thus the name of the photo.

PRINT TITLE: CAPE HENRY LIGHT SPIRAL
The Cape Henry Lighthouse was the first lighthouse authorized by the U.S. government and the first federal construction project under the Constitution. The original contract amount was $15,200 but an additional $2,500 was required to finish the lighthouse.
The aged patina copper interior roof top and the curve of the spiral staircase railing created an interesting photo.
